COVID-19 POLICY AND UPDATES

Covid-19 Statement from Town Hall Theatre

Date: September 24, 2020

Hello, it has been a while!

We thank our community, patrons and friends for your unwavering support and patience as Town Hall Theatre continues to navigate the challenges of Covid-19 and the unique havoc it has placed on theatres and the performing arts.

Very unfortunately but not unexpectedly, several performances scheduled for our stage in 2020 and into early 2021 have been postponed or cancelled due to Covid-19 with our theatre being closed since March.  But we have hope and look forward to when we can once again welcome people in our doors to enjoy live performances.

CANCELLED:             Shania Twin (September 25)

CANCELLED:             Neil Diamond Tribute, Song Sung Blue (October 2)

CANCELLED:             Piano Man, Billy Joel Tribute (November 3)

POSTPONED:             Disney’s THE LITTLE MERMAID (November 20 – December 5)

New dates: April 9 – 24, 2021

Live entertainment has been negatively affected around the world as the spread of Covid-19 persists and Town Hall Theatre is feeling it. We rely solely on revenue from theatre rentals and ticket sales, so with the theatre closed these past 6+ months we feel the pinch.  We have been forced to become incredibly creative and resourceful to survive this lengthy suspension of activity, a biproduct of this pandemic. We will enjoy live performances, concerts, and theatre together again, but only when it is safe to do so. Or it may require creating an environment that makes it safe to do so.

A few months ago, a dedicated committee formed with the sole purpose of creating a plan and actions for a safe and gradual reopening of Town Hall Theatre.  When we do reopen it will be done correctly, carefully orchestrated with safety protocols in place. Our committee follows guidelines by the provincial/municipal governing bodies and are making sure current restrictions for live indoor performance venues are followed to a “T”.  Reopening in these times will mean a different theatre experience than what we may have been used to, absolutely.  But while we look forward to seeing our ‘old normal’ again, we are starting to think this ‘new normal’ will eventually work out too as we get used to it.

As of now, our Reopening Committee continues to meet weekly in hopes to reopen our theatre before the end of 2020 and we thank them for the work they are doing on all our behalf.

Wishing you good health this fall!

Hope to see you soon,
