COVID-19 POLICY AND UPDATES
Covid-19 Update from Town Hall Theatre
Date: January 12, 2021
Dear friends and supporters of Town Hall Theatre:
Thank you for your support and patience as we continue to navigate the challenges of Covid-19 and the closure of our theatre due to government safety restrictions since March 2020. Live events scheduled for our stage over the past year and into 2021 have been forced to postpone or cancel and as Covid-19 cases climb, the Town Hall Theatre remains closed in accordance with Provincial guidelines.
To date, financial reserves have sufficiently carried day-to-day expenses that the Town Hall Theatre incurs. However, should the pandemic continue much further into 2021, without normal revenues from ticket sales for concerts and theatre productions, we will need additional support. As a member of our Town Hall Theatre community, please consider a gift of a donation or consider purchasing a Gift Certificate to be used for future performances once we reopen. Both would go a long way toward helping us get through the months ahead.
Briefly, we were able to see the light with two live holiday fundraiser-concerts planned for December, HOME FOR CHRISTMAS with Irwin Smith and HAVE A VERY COVID CHRISTMAS by SCS Musicals, were ultimately also cancelled as provincial restrictions around Covid-19 increased late November which prohibited indoor public gatherings entirely. With both shows audience-ready at the time increased restrictions were announced, SCS Musicals and Irwin Smith decided to carry on “in the spirit of community and Christmas” to revamp and record one entertainment-packed show for online viewing in support of the theatre called HAVE A VERY COVID CHRISTMAS. Hard work and talent are evident in the 70-minute online show which we shared via private link with our mailing list subscribers. Shared by email on December 23, feedback was immediate and extremely positive, so with lock-down in Ontario continuing until at least January 28, we feel it is time to share this creative show more widely and allow EVERYONE a chance to enjoy it! A link to view the show online can be found on our home page here on the website as well as HERE.
Our Reopening Committee, formed in earlier days of the pandemic, continues to work behind the scenes on all our behalf. They are pursuing all avenues toward creating a safe environment at Town Hall 1873’s theatre for patrons and artists once we can reopen again. They will soon have some exciting news to share in this regard!
Until then, we wish you good health and safety and look forward to seeing you again in 2021!
On behalf of the Town Hall Theatre Board of Directors,
Dale St. John,
